Spasiba, that's "thank you" in Russian. Last summer my mother invited me to go on a cruise from Moscow to St Petersbourg. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to test my foreign language learning skills. Took the classes on the boat and enjoyed the instructor. Didn't study in my cabin. Intended to practice one phrase a day. In the end, I just said " spasiba!" as much as possible, every day. I was thrilled to see smiles on people's faces- from half cracked smiles to full ones!
That was it. Only one word stuck. But a powerful one and I am happy about that.
